Cheryl Doss is a Senior Lecturer in Global Affairs and Economics at Yale University.  She has an MA in International Relations from Yale and a Ph.D. in Applied Economics from the University of Minnesota.  Her research has focused on issues facing rural households in developing countries, especially Africa.  She is particularly interested in ways to ensure that women have access to better opportunities within agriculture.  Currently, she is co-leading a research project on measuring the gender asset gap that has demonstrated both the importance and feasibility of collecting individual level asset ownership data.  The project collected data from Ecuador, Ghana and Karnataka, India.  She has published extensively on intrahousehold decision-making, technology adoption, gender issues in agricultural development, risk among pastoralist households in Kenya and Ethiopia, and the gender asset and wealth gaps.  She has consulted on agricultural development issues with the World Bank, International Food Policy Research Institute, FAO, UNDP, UN Women, and DFiD.
